Portraits
We can tell so much from a face, the eyes, the smile. I’ve been fascinated by faces for a long time. Picasso’s cubist versions, Francis Bacon’s tortured faces, Frida Kahlo’s repeated self portraits. Edvard Munch the Scream. What appeals to me is not the portrayal of a perfect Rembrandt, but rather the portrayal of the inner angst and how this is shown revealing the artists inner world.
Inspired by Lucien Freud’s work, I have created a few works after his frenetic intense energy.
